Kaitlin Keegan (Live at Small Time)
Kaitlin Keegan, a singer-songwriter from Melbourne-via-Perth, is quickly establishing herself as an artist to watch. Her debut EP Sadisco and standalone singles, “Missed Call” and “It Ain’t You” have earned strong support from Unearthed and spins across triple j and community radio stations as well. Her forthcoming single “Separate”, a pandemic love song, further cements the 23-year old’s preternatural ability for capturing the universal in the everyday. With her captivatingly warm vocals, she writes songs that are deeply personal, but also endlessly relatable, set to a backdrop of irresistibly melodic, shimmering folk-pop.
In her short career so far, she already has a slew of impressive achievements under her belt: Inking a publishing deal with Mushroom Music, being invited to SongHubs – a songwriting workshop curated by Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla, appearing at Isolaid Festival, supporting and performing with The Rubens and recently selling out a headline show at Brunswick’s Retreat Hotel.
Along with her own music, she has also collaborated with WA’s Supathick and electronic artist Tim Shiel, whose song “Sparrow” featuring Keegan was added to Double J, multiple playlists on Spotify and Apple Music and received airplay from hugely influential US station KCRW. As Shiel himself says, “Kaitlin’s voice has a stunning purity and directness that embeds reality in everything she sings, and as a songwriter she has a gift for elevating the everyday into something majestic, and that’s a rare gift.”
