Four In The Morning (Live at Small Time)

Sun 28 Nov 2021 Evening

Four in the Morning write sad songs for insomniacs. They write quiet songs to play loudly, stressful songs to sit and drink alone with, songs to walk the dog to, songs that ask you to fall into the speakers, and songs to help you feel a little more human. Or at least they try to.

On the 23rd of July, the band released Keep It Together, the first track off their new EP, Stress Dreams. After multiple delays and with only a week before their grant from the Yarra City Council ran out, Keep It Together was produced, recorded, and mixed by Jono Steer (Angie McMahon, Ainslie Wills, Leif Vollebekk, Julia Wallace) at The Perch Recording Studio in Castlemaine late last year.

Led by Kevin Dolan, an Irish folk-obsessed lyricist, the band are a strange mix of musicians. Kiran Srinivasan is a funk drummer, Alex Less grew up playing jazz guitar, and Dan Walwyn is a bass player who loves Tool and Paul Simon equally. Together they create a fascinating blend of lyrical storytelling and musical experimentation, providing a unique insight into living abroad, struggling with belief, going quietly insane, and falling in love.

*Showcasing new and established artists, Live at Small Time prides itself on variety and the Australian music scene.

*The event will be both live streamed on Facebook and performed in our venue to a limited capacity. Live streamed via Small Time + the artist’s Facebook pages.

*This is a non-ticketed event. To watch the studio recording, we recommend either arriving early to reserve a seat in the main studio lounge or booking the patio for the live stream. Most of the venue has direct or indirect studio vantage points (find out more details here).
